Fortified & Dessert Wines
Sweet and fine wines from southern Europe. Fortified wines round off an exclusive dinner in style.
Greetings from Sicily
Marsala is a fortified wine that takes its name from the Sicilian port of Marsala. The addition of egg yolk and sugar gives the Marsala all'uovo a sweet and mild taste. This addition makes it thicker and darker - ideal as a dessert wine. The Marsala Fine with a min. of 17% alcohol is aged for at least a year in wooden casks and then drunk both before and after the meal.
Spanish Fortified Wine
Not from Italy but from the Iberian Peninsula comes this Malaga wine. A traditional sweet wine from southern Andalusia it is usually drunk as dessert wine. It is one of the oldest documented wines and was already known in Roman antiquity.
